*This post is dedicated to one of my cousins... you inspired me with your beautiful words of hope to write this. Thank you ♥️
I was driving home and typical Barbara move, going through my list of what I needed to get done in numerical order (if I say it out loud it helps me know it is, in fact, going to get done).
And then one thought led to another, and it's like a dump truck just unloaded every single thing that I was worried about right smack in the middle of my mind.
Bills? You sure you'll have enough? You need to make sure you finish your projects.
Must show up on social media and be present... it's the algorithm, come on Barbara.
Ra ra ra.... worry, worry, worry.
And then I literally had to stop myself and talk out loud and say, "Okay Barbara stop, just stop. You're doing it again."
Why do we do this to ourselves? And then I thought, it can't be just me, this is something that happens to everyone at some point.
There's something at the core of this all though. I know that the enemy prowls.
I'm going to get real now. The thing is the devil isn't just a scary red guy with a pitchfork and cape waiting to throw flames at you.
On the contrary, nowhere in the Bible does it even say he is ugly. But it does say that he walks among the earth, looking around to who he can destroy.
// Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour. // 1 Peter 5:8
The devil (and his demons) can use many devices to get to us. Often times it all begins in our minds. And so we must be really careful what we allow into our minds.
What are we hearing? What are we seeing? Who we talking to?, Where are we going and what activites are we doing? What are we being exposed to?
In today's world, many things that are good are portrayed as bad in which many things that are bad... are masked up as good. We need to be alert with what lines up with God's Word to know the truth.
// Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. // Philippians 4:8
In 1 Samuel 17:37 David states:
// ... The Lord that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine... //
David had the confidence that if God had been with him and gotten him through his past situations... God would surely do it again.
If He did it in the past, He can definitely get me through it again, and when I place my trust in Him... I know He will.
When the times get tough and you're feeling like you can't make it this time, remember.
He did, He can, and He will this time too.
