Good Luck Charm

I'll be the first to admit that I am way over the top when it comes to emotions. Weddings and special occasions are a given for many, but I mean you can tell me a sad story that happened to someone a long time ago---that I possibly never even met and you will have yourself a front seat viewing of the Niagara Falls...seriously. Over the weekend I visited my grandparents and watched Under the Same Moon (La Misma Luna), which turned out to be quite an inspirational story. It's about a young Mexican boy that travels to the United States in search of his mother, after his grandmother passes away.
Once the movie came to an end, I looked over at my grandmother and watched her nonchalantly wipe her watery eyes beneath her glasses, as if it was simply the dust that caused her to do so. I looked away hiding the hot tears at the corner of my eyes just waiting for an opportunity to burst. Okay try to retain your laughter but what I did next can easily qualify as one of the most ridiculous things someone can do. I did what anyone else would. I simply walked to the bathroom, shut the door....and flat out sobbed. The moment resembled a rendition of Sofía Vergara's crying scene on the Ellen Show---minus the hitting the counter with my shoe. And then I wiped away my tears and walked out of the room completely fine. That's pretty normal right?
Regardless, I couldn't help but relate this little episode of mine to other situations in life. Sometimes things get tough. And sometimes we tend to hide our insecurities from others for fear that we might not be accepted. As for me, I hadn't realized how truly frustrating and at times discouraging this road would be. I am slowly coming to understand that learning is a process. That it takes time to get where you want to be--- but I still won't deny I wish there was some magical chip that would insert all of the knowledge in me --_--. As I finished my dinner a few nights ago, I reached for the last fortune cookie on the table slowly cracking it in half, and unwrapped the little fortune nestled inside. What it stated left me in deep thought for few moments as I fought back the urge to tear up. I now keep this little fortune on my desk as a good luck charm or perhaps a simple reminder that maybe I'm not ready to give up on this, not just yet.

Book of Magical Wonders

Have you ever seen one of those movies where the boy or girl picks up their favorite book to read about a tale of adventure, treasure, villains and heroes....only to actually become part of the world that lives within the pages? When I was a little girl I remember being mesmerized by the movies Magic Island and The Neverending Story. So much that I would take my favorite book and spend hours reading and hoping that at some point I too would be magically swept into the stories just like Jack and Bastian were. Sadly, I quickly came to the realization that no matter how much I read, or how much I waited in front of the book, I simply wasn't going to actually be pulled into the book (womp womp). Regardless, at the time even though I was really upset Jack got to fly into books and I couldn't, I hadn't realized that I too in another sense was being "pulled" into my books. These stories fueled my imagination and the more I read, the more my mind burst with ideas and beautiful images of far away places with wonderful people and adventures. Since I know books don't really light up with magic, I decided to create my own book of magical wonders. I snapped this photo of my brother reading his favorite book on the solar system, and added a few touches of magic. Who says magical adventures only await in movies? Enjoy!

CreativeLive Online Photography Course Submission

A few weeks ago Jasmine Star posted about a three day course that she will be joining creativeLive with in Seattle in April. The course will be entitled The Making and Marketing on an Editorial Wedding. The best part is they will be choosing six students to join them for the three-day course in Seattle! I have been brainstorming ideas and finally decided since the past few days have been nothing but blue skies it was the perfect time to get started on my submission video. Enjoy and Happy Friday!!
(P.S. I want to thank my sister for being a great director and big help on this video ;)...love you!)

Style Bound/ Happy Findings

So it seems a century has passed by since I last posted! February has breezed by, and in a few weeks it will be Spring. I love this time of year because we get to see the beauty of nature grow right before our eyes. I mean isn't it simply amazing? Everything comes back to life at around the same time every year, the flowers begin to bloom, the weather becomes warmer, and the days grow longer (yay!). I can't help but think how beautiful God made this world for us, from the beautiful colors of the sunset sky, the warm breeze that brushes our cheeks, to the lovely scent of trees and that fill the summer air. At times I feel we become so caught up in our daily routines that we miss the beauty of life happening right outside our windows. On another note, I thought it would be fun to share other loves and passions of mine so I'm happy to introduce to you Style Bound, posts dedicated to my obsession with fashion as well as other Happy Findings that bring a smile to my day, who knows might even brighten up yours ;). Enjoy!

Red Velvet Cake. Need I say more?
One of my favorite Dr. Seuss quotes.
The Aurora Borealis is so incredibly beautiful in photographs, I hope to one day see it in person.
Oh so true.
