Happy Thanksgiving 2012
Every year families and friends gather all over the country and celebrate the holiday Thanksgiving. It's a time when there is no particular focus on gifts or decorations, but rather simply being thankful for what we do have. At some point it may even feel as if the annual routine of turkey, crisp apple pies, and the warmth of family and friends becomes second nature. But today I am especially thankful that I woke up to a home with family that loves me and are able to celebrate together. I realize that it's the little things that stay with us the most and are truly important.
For me it's all coming together at my grandparent's home, my uncles' and cousins' loud shouts as we play a round of Scopa, the table full of delicious homemade foods (and desserts =D), and my grandfather's words of grace. These are the little things that stay with me even as the years go by. I wish you the happiest Thanksgiving, full of yummy turkey and stuffing, and mashed potatoes, and sweet potatoes, and pumpkin pie and----well with everything you can possibly eat in one day! =D Happy Thanksgiving!

Tomorrow
While reading I stumbled upon a poem that really tugged at my heartstrings. Many times we tend to push things aside until the next day, and when the next day comes, the same thing occurs. Life happens which makes it difficult to achieve everything like we said we would. Sometimes when this happens we unknowingly push aside the very things we love---our family, friends, dreams. Life is short and everyday really does count. And so as W.M. Lewis stated,"The tragedy of life is not that it ends so soon, but we wait so long to begin it." One day I want to look back at my life and see all of the things I did do, the things I brought to life, not just ideas and and dreams scribbled in a notebook. So go out there and do what it is you love today, so that tomorrow you can look back and see all of the great things you achieved. Happy Friday!
And thought of the folks he would fill with delight
It was too bad, indeed, he was busy today,
And hadn't a minute to stop on his way;
More time he would have to give others, he'd say
The world would have known him, had he ever seen

Tomorrow
He was going to be all that a mortal should be
Tomorrow.
No one should be kinder or braver than he
Tomorrow.
A friend who was troubled and weary he knew,
Who'd be glad of a lift and who needed it, too;
On him he would call and see what he could do
Who'd be glad of a lift and who needed it, too;
On him he would call and see what he could do
Tomorrow.
Each morning he stacked up the letters he'd write
Tomorrow.
And thought of the folks he would fill with delight
Tomorrow.
It was too bad, indeed, he was busy today,
And hadn't a minute to stop on his way;
More time he would have to give others, he'd say
Tomorrow.
The greatest of workers this man would have been
The greatest of workers this man would have been
Tomorrow.
The world would have known him, had he ever seen
Tomorrow.
But the fact is he died and he faded from view,
And all that he left here when living was through
Was a mountain of things he intended to do
And all that he left here when living was through
Was a mountain of things he intended to do
Tomorrow.

Autumn Splendor
There is just something about the Fall that brings a sense of newness, of new beginnings. Perhaps because it is the beginning of a new school year or because of the long Summer break. I love the chilly nights, the smell of warm cinnamon, beautiful early sunsets and the colorful changes in the leaves all around us. Prior to the storm, I took photos of some of my favorite things that inspired me throughout the past month. Enjoy!

Hurricane Sandy: Moving Forward
It's been a long devastating week for most of the residents in New Jersey, New York, and the neighboring states affected by Hurricane Sandy. School has been out for the past week and many of the roads are still difficult to travel by due to broken down trees and debris left over from the storm. Many of my family members and friends still reside with no power and it is not known exactly how many more days until it will be restored. It makes me sad when I think of all the summer memories I have growing up at the New Jersey beaches, which are now mostly destroyed.
But now all we can hope for is the recovery of these places and homes of so many and keep strong. There has been an amazing amount of support from so many, if you would like to help you can do so also by making a donation to the Red Cross here. My heart goes out to all those who were deeply affected by Hurricane Sandy, God Bless.
